A message from our President:
“Welcome to the Alpha Delta chapter of alpha Kappa Delta Phi at the University of Florida. It is an incredible honor to serve as this year’s President and give back to a sisterhood that has shaped who I am. Our chapter is more than just a sorority – it is a home away from home for over 247 intelligent, compassionate, and driven leaders.
Together, we foster a community that uplifts and empowers every sister to grow, lead, and embrace their most authentic selves. We take pride in our cultural identities, our dedication to service, and the vibrant and diverse membership that makes this eternal sisterhood truly special. I invite you to explore our website to learn more about what we do and the impact we are making. We hope this gives you a glimpse into the love, strength, and values that define who we are. Welcome to our sisterhood.”
- #225 Allie "S♡NNET " Sigl, 2025-2026 President
alpha Kappa Delta Phi was founded in the fall of 1989 at the University of California, Berkeley, and was officially recognized by the College Panhellenic Association on February 7, 1990. The fourteen founding sisters — Betty Chu, Karin Co, Susan Kim, Nancy Lee, Sherri Leung, Annie Loo, Belinda Ma, Anita Ng, Serene Ngin, Fannie Pon, Josie Sun, Daisy Wu, Jill Yoshimura, and Reina Yuan — envisioned building a lasting sisterhood that would empower Asian-American women within the Greek system.
Soon after recognition, the founding sisters united a diverse group of women who shared a commitment to the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and leadership. These guiding principles became the foundation of alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s mission. Their passion, generosity, and dedication not only shaped the sorority’s identity but also forged lifelong bonds and helped establish its respected reputation.
The founding sisters hoped alpha Kappa Delta Phi would serve as a platform to promote Asian-awareness and foster strong female leaders. Through shared values, support, and empowerment, the sorority continues to help women pursue their personal and professional aspirations.
In May 2007, a diverse group of women at the University of Florida came together with a shared vision: to create meaningful change in their community and fill a personal void they felt in their college experience. Some were seeking new friendships, others wanted to deepen existing bonds. Some were drawn to leadership opportunities, while others were simply searching for a space where they could truly belong. Despite their different motivations, Katie Boylan, Tiffany Chiu, Katie Chu, Whitney Fung, Greta Gania, Ari Garay, Vanessa Kwong, Samantha Lai, Florence Luong, Amy Nguyen, Megan Olive, Helen Shin, Bowie Stephens, Rebecca Tam, and Jen Vu were united by one powerful goal — to build a lifelong sisterhood.
This group would soon be known as Ignite, representing the spark of passion that fueled their journey. Over the next year, Ignite worked tirelessly to bring an Asian-interest sorority to the University of Florida. They hosted socials with other Greek organizations, served the Gainesville community, and built lasting memories through sisterhood events. Through their determination and unity, they prepared to take the next step: joining the sisterhood of alpha Kappa Delta Phi.
On December 6, 2008, their vision became reality. The charter class of alpha Kappa Delta Phi at the University of Florida was established with the goal of creating a strong, credible, and inclusive chapter grounded in the values of sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, service, and Asian Awareness. These founding sisters aspired to develop empowered student leaders who would be well-integrated into both the Greek system and the Asian American community on campus.
Above all, they became the embodiment of what they had set out to find — a genuine and everlasting sisterhood.
